"Peace on Earth" and "Good Will To Men"

ToonPub is getting into the Christmas spirit.
What do you think of the new banner. More details will be added soon. But this is what we have so far.

Well, we're exploring Peace on Earth and Goodwill to men! :)

What does it take to have peace on Earth? When will man finally practice what he preaches? "Peace on Earth" explores this subject with a short cartoon starring cute woodland creatures telling a story of an apocalypse.

Screen Capture from "Peace on Earth"

After singing a modified version of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing", two young squirrels ask their Grandpa what "men"
are from the line in the song "Peace on Earth, goodwill to men". His grandpa goes on to tell an apocalyptic tale of how the extinct race called "men" had continued to war until every last one of them were killed. Now the world is only populated by animals. These animals have learned from negative example of man and the positive message found in a "rule book" in the rubble of a Church. The rules they read are "Thou Shalt Not Kill" and "Love thy Neighbor as Thyself".

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's "Peace on Earth" was directed by Hugh Harman and made in 1939. Keep in mind that this was post-World War I and heading into World War 2.

1955 Remake

In 1955, William Hanna & Joseph Barbara directed a remake of "Peace on Earth" called "Good Will to Men". This is the same story but more preachy and showy.

The setting this time is in a Church's ruins with the story being told by the chorus master to the mouse choir. The flashback story shows updated weapons that are a little more horrifying than the original.

Something to note is the use of two different types of animation; First, the traditional 2D animation, and then during the war scenes, they used rotoscoping (tracing frame-by-frame over live-action movement from film).

"Peace on Earth" shows us how the woodland creatures achieved their little utopia building on the ruins of mankind. Wouldn't it be great if we could all work towards peace on Earth and really get into the spirit of Christmas before the cute furry animals take over?

This is Coady's silly, somewhat ironic video about himself. He's so conceited, isn't he? :P

Singing in the Rain with Cognito

Here's a great video by a new user. I think she really caught the feel of this video. Great use of the Stick Figure theme of GoAnimate. This video will have you smiling. :D

The sets are fantastic. You can tell she really put a lot of thought into what the video was going to look like and how it was all going to work out.

Doesn't it just make you feel like going out and singing in the rain yourself?

War and Peace: An Ogre's Tale

While battling humans an ogre finds a letter of encouragement that someone had written to someone he just killed. Something about peace... blah, blah, blah...
not important...

Great animation and message!

Winner of the Animator Dominator Title Pandaboy vs Ryco

The Dark Lord of Death by Ryco

Skitzo - Introductions by Panda Boy

And the winner is...

TAD Winner Announcement by etourist

Ryco by a hair! etourist (aka The Extraordinary Tourist aka TET)'s charming animation announcing the winner was also based on a GoAnimate forum where we joked that RoTV would win even if he didn't enter. This was almost true considering most of the animations in the contest featured RoTV.

Ryco's "Dark Lord of Death" video was inspired by a thread in GoAnimate's forums, where RoTV suggested that Ryco may not be that evil because he owns a "Hello Kitty" collection. to which Coady retorted something to the effect of "I think his collection just proves how evil he is".

Ryco's animation winning TET's contest seems fitting considering it was TET, master of turning forums into animations, who was holding the contest. TET had won the previous Animator Dominator contest with

"Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" fanimation #Animation

This was just about as good as the movie. I think they forgot all the cheesy love lines. Although, I'll take the princess kicking Anakin over the cliche lines anyday! lol.

I thought it would be fun to try and design Jean-Luc Picard. He's not completely finished, but let me know what you think of the design. Anything to improve upon?
