Santa's Got a Kinky Side. As If You Didn't Already Know...

Happy Holidays
There's nothing like starting the New Year with animations from last year :D

Here's the entry I put in for GoAnimate's Holiday Contest.

Santa's Flushed by CoadyTNP

Santa Flushed got Dirty
Actually, Version 2 is actually the original I made. I figured it was a little too obscene for general audiences on GoAnimate and didn't enter it into the Contest

Santa's Flush version 2 !Warning: Adult Humor! by CoadyTNP

Here's one from AniBoom with a similar idea. Even a toilet is included! The Claus Family is an all-around kinky kind of family. What else is there to do in the North Pole?

"The Samster #11" has some great logic.

The Samster is a young guy who just moved to a new school and made a new best friend Steve (the chubby kid). Steve is a hilarious sidekick!

The series is great. Make sure you take a peek at the full series: http://thesamster.weebly.com/

"Noël Noël" A Christmas Allegory about Consumerism

here

Image via Wikipedia

"Noël Noël" by Nicola Lemay, Voiced by Lesley Nelson 2003 22m30s. Source: National Film Board of Canada.
It's a great cartoon, and a wonderful allegorical piece.

Spoiler alert.

Noel Noel's business.
Noel Noel was a toy-maker who loved making toys and his were the best in the land, but no one would buy his toys. Everyone was spooked by the gigantic pine tree behind his shop. He was sure to go bankrupt

Noel Noel's Fairy
Luckily, he had a fairy who loved his him and his work. She felt bad that Noel's toy store was going bankrupt. The fairy grants Noel's wish but he must kiss her to get it. A stipulation is if he takes the wish, he can't hurt the tree where the fairies live or he will be cursed. He kisses her and falls in love.

Noel Noel's Decent
Noel becomes very successful but couldn't get Beatrice out of his mind. Noel wasn't good with words, but could make toys.
He offers the fairy a hand-carved reindeer and she loves it. If she likes one, he figures, she'll like a whole bunch! But she doesn't want more stuff. She wants him to speak to her. Unfortunately, that's not his strong suit. She leaves him. He thinks it's because she doesn't like hand-carved toys, but wants more lavish expensive gifts.

Noel Noel's Curse
Noel becomes extremely successful work-a-holic and wants to build a castle for Beatrice and himself. The tree would be key to building what he needed. After he chops it down, he becomes cursed. The curse is every Christmas, his most successful time of the year, past midnight he'd turn into a gruesome Monster. The death of the tree is the ultimate act of selfishness and the death of his love and happiness. Noel Noel has lost true happiness in the attainment of everything. He keeps Beatrice's glasses and magic wand. And Beatrice's reindeer friend watches this pass.

Noel Noel The Corporate Mogul
Noel Noel has become cold, his heart is like lead. He tips his staff with useless gifts. He even sells live reindeer... no more cheap carved ones. Only the best, most expensive things. Whatever makes a profit. Reindeer for everyone.

Noel Noel's Best Customers
The Little Zoey Murphy stares at Noel Noel's store waiting excitedly for the clock to countdown when the store opens. She sees Noel Noel and enters his store. When Zoey and her Father pass the live reindeer, she knows that is what she needs for Christmas. Her Father looks at the price tag and says no. But Zoey is somewhat of a spoiled brat and she cries.

Noel Noel's Christmas
The Murphy's celebrate Christmas by opening their gifts they bought from Noel's store. Mom gets a fire extinguisher, Dad gets the Christmas tie that ties itself, and Zoey get the reindeer that she wanted, and Snooze the dog gets lonely. Meanwhile, Noel's curse is revealed. He becomes a physical monster, an outward expression of what we should think about him.

Noel Noel's Encounter
Noel Noel leaves his office as an ugly scary monster. The reindeer escapes Zoey's house. Zoey wakes up to fin he's gone out the window. Zoey follows. When Zoey's mother notices Zoey is gone, Snooze, her dog, sets out to find her.
Zoey meets Noel who is upset and lost his true loves glasses. Zoey found them in the snow and gave them back to Noel. Noel was happy. As this was happening, spirits whisked them away to the dead stump where the Noel's old work shop was.

Noel Noel's Confession
Zoey sees her reindeer and gets excited. The spirit of the stump possess her reindeer who demands to know why Noel broke his promise. Noel confesses that all he wanted to do was to express how much he loved Beatrice the fairy. Beatrice is moved. She wants her glasses back, and Snooze runs in to save the day.

Noel Noel's Lesson.
Love isn't expressed in material possessions, but in thoughtful acts and verbal expressions from the heart.
"From the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks" -Luke 6:45

Noel Noel the Allegory
Noel is the French word for Christmas which I'm sure most of you know. Noel's journey of starting with joy at making toys for Christmas is admirable. Then when his wish is fulfilled, and his desire to become rich to impress, he becomes materialistic. He encourages people to buy things they don't need. Like the Murphy's Father's tie. The Murphy's forget momentarily how much damage is done to their pocketbook. Noel forgets the joy of making toys. Noel Noel has destroyed the goodness of Christmas and literally killed the Spirit that made Noel successful in the first place.
But this can all change, if we remember that love isn't expressed in material things, but goes beyond that to a deeper place.

The Making Of PandaBoy's "This Christmas..."

This Christmas...

Pandaboy is a young Canadian animator from GoAnimate. His friendliness and kindness adds a great deal of strength to GoAnimate. As an animator, Pandaboy has grown leaps and bounds. I believe the maturity behind "This Christmas..." shows that Pandaboy has a strong grasp for story-telling and emotional intelligence that surpasses that of most young men his age. With well made voice-over and animation, and a well made animation, Pandaboy is a shining example that young animators on GoAnimate can keep up with the older crowd in making good original content. - Coady Nickerson

THE INSPIRATION

Ever since I joined GoAnimate in March (the ninth, I think), and had watched Ryco's Christmas animation:

GoAnimate.com: My holiday message by Ryco

I felt inspired by this animation to create another good animation with a good moral and an inspiring message. I tried to satisfy my longing for this style of animation by creating a biography of one of GoAnimate's Cartoon Classic characters: Jay. I filled this animation with the warming saying to believe in your dreams, and believe it or not it turned out better than any of my other animations at the time and recieved a staff pick and over 400 views.

Although this still holds to this day the title of my favourite animation of mine that I'm proud of, it didn't quite fit the animation type I was looking for. I kept thinking and racking my brain for hours on end yet still nothing would come to me. I searched through the animations with every tag you could think of but no luck. So, that's when I did what any other animator would have done weeks before: I gave up.

Finally, not even a month ago, I felt like watching the older animations of some of my favourite animators. I checked Gipsy's page to find exactly what I had been looking for months before. Inspired by Forrest Gump's opening credit scene, Gipsy's animation truly impressed me.

I didn't really want the same plot. No, not at all. What I desired was for my animation to have the same sympathetic effective feeling that Gipsy's had had. It was a miracle that I found this at the time of the Christmas contest when it would be most popular and might even win me a prize. I asked Gipsy for permission and of course he said yes.

I immediately got to work and urged myself to stay up for five hours two nights in a row, along with an hour in the day here or there. I finished it in less than 48 hours and ever since it was published it has gained many more views than I expected. That was a really fun animation to create as since I was the one writing it, and doing the voiceovers, I really put my heart into it. I hope you guys enjoy it and have very happy holidays!

This Christmas... 2

After the success of Skitzo and This Christmas convinced me that I just had to do a sequel to either of them. Of course I chose Skitzo as I knew immediately that it would be much more popular. I put many hours work into "Skitzo - The Halloween Story" but it just kept crashing and losing it's data, and GoAnimate staff couldn't replace all of it. So I was just as happy switching over to do a second "This Christmas".

While making "This Christmas...2", I wanted to make an animation that made you cry even though you had just already bawled your eyes out at the original. I wanted it to be a touching animation and REALLY make you feel grateful about how nice it is to have food, shelter and the chance to win a DSI in a great contest (wink@GoA Staff).

I decided to make the second saddest type of homeless character besides a poor child: a poor elderly person. But what if you could find out what they wanted for Christmas; and with the help of the GoAnimate studio, give it to them?

This is exactly what I did. I thought, if I were an elderly man, what would I want? I chose a selection of items then narrowed it down to the ones I thought would really add to the animation. It offers an alternate ending to the original This Christmas, because it ends with the old man... Oh, never mind, just watch the animations and see for yourself. ;-)

"Peace on Earth" and "Good Will To Men"

ToonPub is getting into the Christmas spirit.
What do you think of the new banner. More details will be added soon. But this is what we have so far.

Well, we're exploring Peace on Earth and Goodwill to men! :)

What does it take to have peace on Earth? When will man finally practice what he preaches? "Peace on Earth" explores this subject with a short cartoon starring cute woodland creatures telling a story of an apocalypse.

Screen Capture from "Peace on Earth"

After singing a modified version of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing", two young squirrels ask their Grandpa what "men"
are from the line in the song "Peace on Earth, goodwill to men". His grandpa goes on to tell an apocalyptic tale of how the extinct race called "men" had continued to war until every last one of them were killed. Now the world is only populated by animals. These animals have learned from negative example of man and the positive message found in a "rule book" in the rubble of a Church. The rules they read are "Thou Shalt Not Kill" and "Love thy Neighbor as Thyself".

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's "Peace on Earth" was directed by Hugh Harman and made in 1939. Keep in mind that this was post-World War I and heading into World War 2.

1955 Remake

In 1955, William Hanna & Joseph Barbara directed a remake of "Peace on Earth" called "Good Will to Men". This is the same story but more preachy and showy.

The setting this time is in a Church's ruins with the story being told by the chorus master to the mouse choir. The flashback story shows updated weapons that are a little more horrifying than the original.

Something to note is the use of two different types of animation; First, the traditional 2D animation, and then during the war scenes, they used rotoscoping (tracing frame-by-frame over live-action movement from film).

"Peace on Earth" shows us how the woodland creatures achieved their little utopia building on the ruins of mankind. Wouldn't it be great if we could all work towards peace on Earth and really get into the spirit of Christmas before the cute furry animals take over?
